Come and explore the joys of the spring sunshine. The wildlife is active in the area in the months of May and June. You will see moose, deer and elk because they are attracted to the salt from the winter maintains of roads. This is a great opportunity to see them! reminder to decrease yuor speed in these areas.
It's Finally Summer Time!
There are countless hours of fun to be had in Bancroft & District! Come to our Visitor Information Center in the Bancroft Train Station and we will provide you with a comprehensive list of fun, which includes; trails, cycling routes, beaches, parks, fishing, mineral collecting, hotspots, Nature Discovery Tours and more!
Come and see the colours change. The Provincal Parks are a great way to expirence the colours as well as the local hiking trails. Keep an eye out for the Studio Tours happening at the same time to be inspired by nature and the arts. Late September and early October is the best time. Also it is a season to see turkeys, please watch out for these burds in the sides of the road.
Got Snow! Winter Fun
Come and see our area's beautiful features and do a day on the trails! Wheather you are snowshoesing, crosscountry skiiing, down hill skiing, snowmobiling or ice fishing we have the best sights and a longseason for the snow! Our area loves the winter time and we take advantage of the cold with all of our indoor and outdoor public skating rinks!

Wolf Howls (Algonquin Park)
Wolf howling expeditions take place only on Thurs in August, when weather and accessible wolves permit. There is a slide talk on wolf ecology and our changing perceptions of this elusive animal: event protocol is provided: and then you travel by car to a place where wild wolves may answer the imitations given by the Naturalist Staff. North of 7 Film Fest (Bancroft)
Hospice North Hastings has become a partner with the Film Circuit which is a division of the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) Amazing movies are shown at the Bancroft Village Playhouse on the second Tuesday of each month...Sept to June. South of 60 Arts Centre (Barry's Bay)
Located in the historic and restored Barry's Bay Railway Station, the South of 60 Arts Centre is the area's largest public art gallery, focusing on the Ottawa Valley's rich artistic hertiage.
Register for a free account at www.geocaching.com, choose from one of the many caches located in the Bancroft District, grab you GPS and go! If you are new to the game, talk to ‘Sticky Moose’, an avid Geocacher, who will point you in the right direction. This is a great family activity and ideal for kids ages 5 and up. Horseback Riding (Maynooth)
Go on a safe trial and enjoyable adventure with an experience tail guide in the southern tip of Algonquin Park. Rides vary from ½ hour to half a day, reservations are recommended. Escaping to the bundled up city to explore Canada and all its wonders, you do not have to go far! With so many activities just add Stargazing for your nighttime event. The darkest region in the area, known as the 'Dark Peninsula', encompasses 4 Counties, Hastings, Frontenac, Lennox-Addington, and Renfrew. This is the best view of the night sky and the Milky Way that they will most likely experience.
January In 2015, the Quadrantids will peak on January 4. It is usually active between the end of December and the second week of January, and peaks around January 2 or January 3.
April The Lyrids are will peak on April 22, 2015. The Lyrids meteor shower is usually active between April 16 and April 25 every year. It tends to peak around April 22 or April 23.
May The Eta Aquarids meteor shower will peak on May 5-6 in 2015. The Eta Aquarids meteor shower are usually active between April 19 and May 28 every year.
August The 2015 Perseid meteor shower will peak on August 12 -13.Astronomers suggest watching for meteors after midnight on August 13, 2015.
October The 2015 Draconid meteor shower are expected to peak on October 9. The best time to see the shower is right before nightfall.
Mineral Capital Concerts!
