Bancroft and District features some of the most breathtaking country you will see anywhere. With deep cut gorges and rugged highlands. rushing rivers and placid pools, it's a feast for the eyes and all the senses. The fall colours are magnificent with spectacular panoramic views of hardwood forests on the rolling hills and in enchanting valleys.
Hikers bikers, birders and rockhounds can choose their own routes to explore the countryside. or they ask for assistance in planning a tour by phoning the Chamber of Commerce office at (613) 332-1513.

Fall Colours
Have you ever considered a fall vacation?
The hills and forests of Bancroft and District put on an equally good autumn spectacular. Late September - early October is the time when the red of the maples, the bronze of the oaks and the gold of the birches and aspen turn the country side into a kaleidoscope of colour.

Enjoy a fall colour or studio tour, as well mineral collecting is also available during the fall season.

Getaway to some of the most beautiful countryside Southern Ontario has to offer.
Things are quieter in the fall, the crowds have gone and the local people have time to have a friendly chat. Accommodation is more readily available, and the restaurants and dining rooms are not so crowed. It is also the time for church suppers. Almost every weekend on the the churches has a turkey, beef, or ham dinner; many with homemade pies for dessert.

Although the weather may be to cool for swimming, it can be ideal for boating and canoeing. It is also the ideal time to go mineral collecting. It is not too hot, the sites are sparsely attended, so you have time to work the claim for the bigger and better crystals.
