Algonquin Arts Council
The Algonquin Arts Council, a "not for profit"
organization, was formed in 1978 by a group of Bancroft
and area residents to facilitate and encourage the development
of cultural activities in the twelve northern townships
of Hastings County and its surrounding areas. Its goal
was to stimulate community involvement in the Arts by
promoting theatrical productions, visual arts, and crafts
exhibitions and displays for local and regional presentation
to the public. The organization was incorporated on January
27, 1993.
The Algonquin Arts Council (A.A.C.) is made up of interested
volunteers who promote and encourage artistic endeavors
by its four programming committees (see below). The A.A.C.
encourages membership in the organization, organizes fundraising
projects and manages all moneys received, including those
from government grants. A quarterly newsletter is circulated
to all its members and to other interested organizations.
