WelcomeWe're
Closer Than You Think! Come for a visit!
We are a four seasons destination covering the Town of
Bancroft, North Hastings, East Haliburton and the Madawaska
Valley. Algonquin Park is at our doorstop.
Come and discover the rugged beauty of Canadian Shield
country. There are thousands of square kilometres of wooded
highlands and enchanting valleys largely untouched by
humans.
Countless lakes and rivers will tempt you to cast a line,
navigate, splash around or just sit back and listen to
the call of the loon.
There
are many resort lodges, motels, inns, campgrounds and
bed & breakfast accommodations to choose from. To
complement the accommodations there are fine dining facilities
and fast food outlets as well as stores and shops of every
description. Our service and hospitality await you.
Bancroft is called the "Mineral Capital of Canada"
because of its unique area geology. The region encompassing
a 60 kilometre radius around Bancroft has a greater number
of minerals to
be found than any other corresponding region in Canada
(or possibly North America). In the year 2003 Bancroft
hosts its 40th Annual Rockhound Gemboree, Canada's largest
mineral and gem show.
Whether you are looking for a vacation getaway or a new
home ... the Bancroft District is a great place to live,
work or visit. Come and experience the unique atmosphere
of a frontier town surrounded by rugged highlands, with
the picturesque Eagle's Nest, a 150 metre high cliff standing
guard over the town.
